My name is Sumith and I’m an Indian chef and a Food artist. I was born and raised in Kerala, India and am now based in the UK. Through my upbringing and heritage I create and share authentic south Indian dishes with exciting flavours and ingredients. My cooking is simple and enticing with the use of earthy spices, fresh herbs & blends that are synonymous with Indian cooking, based around dishes that inspire me and recipes that have been part of my family for generations.
My initial flirtation with food art quickly turned into obsession, & then snowballed into a full-blown love affair. I love pushing the boundaries of edible art. My friends were my inspiration. YOU are my inspiration! It sounds corny, but it’s true. And that’s why I want to write this blog, to connect with you. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes looks at how I put my arts together, my favourite recipes, tutorials for you to try, my thoughts on trends in cooking, cake design & all the mind-blowing edible art from the decorators I admire across the world.
If you’re here because you follow Keralas creative kitchen on social media or you have tried my recipe before, thank you for indulging me with my cracks at a blog post – I’m so excited to have you here. And if you’re new, welcome!!! I hope you’ll stay & learn something new, or just grab a cup of coffee & relax while I share my food obsessed musings with you every week.
You are so passionate about your art. Love it.

‘Ni Hao!’ Sumith, I want to thank you for following and liking my blog, and am delighted to be introduced to your blog as well. I am a South African/Brit, living in Beijing, I love reading, cooking, eating, talking……I have two adult children one of whom lives in India – Bangalore – and I visit her regularly but have not yet been to Kerala – MUST do it sooner rather than later. Your recipes are quite inspirational, and their presentation is superb.

Art on a plate each time, well done! I’ve been to Cochin too on one of my trips to India. What a beautiful place it is. So idyllic and scenic. The fish there was amazing too.
